Assessments
Key Features
Our assessments are a roadmap to your child’s success, tailored to their unique needs and your family’s goals.

At Whiz Kids Therapy, we provide comprehensive speech and language assessments to understand your child’s communication, social, and functional needs. Our comprehensive speech and language assessments provide a 360-degree view of your child’s communication, social, and functional abilities. Conducted in familiar environments, we use a collaborative, family-centered approach to gather insights from parents, teachers, occupational therapists, and other professionals. We employ standardised tools alongside real-world observations and external reports (e.g., medical, school data). Our reports detail strengths, challenges, and intervention needs, using the ICF framework to support NDIS funding and school planning (WHO, 2022). With a focus on equity, we addressing access gaps through culturally safe practices.

At Whiz Kids Therapy, our assessments cater to a spectrum of needs, from simple speech challenges to complex conditions like Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), or ADHD. For children with straightforward speech difficulties (e.g., articulation errors, stuttering), our quick, painless 45-minute speech assessments evaluate all speech sounds, word-level production, connected speech, and oro-motor skills.

Whiz Kids therapists understand your child as a whole person, not just their challenges. Our assessments evaluate how communication difficulties impact daily life—such as participating in school, building friendships, or engaging in family routines—while celebrating their unique strengths, like creativity or social enthusiasm. We consider real-life contexts, observing your child in familiar settings like classrooms, playgrounds, or home to ensure our findings reflect their everyday experiences. By assessing functional impacts—such as how speech delays affect academic progress or social inclusion—we create tailored, practical recommendations. Our reports integrate input from parents, teachers, and allied health professionals (e.g., occupational therapists) to capture environmental factors like home dynamics or school supports. These clear, actionable reports streamline NDIS funding requests, guide Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and inform therapy plans, reducing caregiver burden and promoting independence.
